We are delighted to announce that Vinea Marson has been awarded a Merit for our Sangiovese in the Real Review’s Wine Classification of Australia. Released just last month, Vinea Marson holds the auspicious title of having the only Italian varietal wine listed in the Classification, a testament to Mario’s vision for the grape in the Heathcote GI and Australian landscape more broadly.
So too to the commitment to cultivating a diverse vineyard and winemaking style that Mario has so generously shared with me over the past ten years. The sangiovese produced here at Vinea Marson comes from what surely must be one of the most diverse plantings of the variety in Australia.
There are a few hoops to jump in the classification, a reflection not only of quality but also of longevity as ten vintages must be reviewed to be considered. This means that the highly regarded Grazia is yet to be eligible, as we have released 8 vintages so far (no Grazia in 2015 as we released the Pinot bianco and having lost the 2020 vintage due to smoke taint). We hope to see this unique and textural blend included with the next years of the Classification.
In the meantime, Mario has rummaged around in the museum cellar, and we have released some limited packs of current and vintage Sangiovese to share with you all. Order yours HERE.
