A deeply coloured & unctuous skin-contact wine, the Friulano #14 honours winemaker Mario Marson’s grandfather Geremia who grew & made this indigenous variety in the family's hometown of Prata di Pordenone. Inducted as a Ducato dei Vini Friulani in 2012, Mario was inspired to craft this weird & wonderful vino macerazione using pristine fruit grown in the Alpine Valleys of north-east Victoria.

TASTING NOTE
Golden in colour with a hint of green. With aromas of nutty alpine meadow flowers, struck match, rich fruits reveal themselves with time in the glass. With the appearance of riper fragrance & spice - pear, quince and a hint of nutmeg, it pays to revisit when the wine grades to room temperature. On the palate the drive of acid is bright, with characters of camomile tea and citrus encased in nutty phenolics and a slight sour finish. The wine’s persistent amaro finish and almond savouriness make it a wine that cries out for food.

FOOD MATCH
The unctuousness of the Friulano lends itself to similarly rich foods - a deliciously fatty prosciutto, washed rind cheese or Frico (the traditional Friulian dish of fried onions & Montasio cheese).

CELLARING
