ABOUT
A unique multiblend white wine from Friulano, Malvasia d'Istria, Picolit & Pinot Bianco inspired by the family's Friulian heritage. With the 2021 vintage marking the 3rd consecutive gold medal from Huon Hooke in The Real Review - the 2021 vintage is a wine of which winemakers Mario and Madeleine are most proud.
TASTING NOTES
With a bright golden hue, one is struck by the unctuousness of the wine on first appearance. The Grazia’s nose of toasted almonds, fresh green peas and straw gives way to an attractive reductivity, struck match leading to a toasty oak finish. With a bit of time in the glass, fragrant field blossoms reveal themselves, the influence of Malvasia d’Istria. The palate offers an attractive tartness with lemon and pith leading to well-integrated phenolics. It is a complex and layered wine, with a degree of subtlety as it reveals itself, rich and refined as notes of grapefruit and orange peel lead to amaro-bitter tannins of medium weight and a creamy vanilla finish.
FOOD MATCH
Risotto con asparagi, roasted white meats, goat's cheese tart, smoked trout
CELLARING
With some 8 vintages of the Grazia in Mario's museum cellar, we're continuing to be amazed by the ageability of this wine. As fresh fruit grades to secondary and tertiary character the savouriness of the varietal mix comes to the fore, making it the perfect medium-bodied white for ageing. Akin to chardonnay in this respect, we encourage you to keep some bottles in the cellar for 10 years or more.
