TASTING NOTES

Its safe to say our 13 clones of sangiovese have thrived in Heathcote's volcanic dirt. Since 2012, the consistency and quality of Vinea Marson's sangiovese has shone through - the vine age of these vintages is of paramount importance, as is the run of consistent and temperate growing seasons. The 2013 was a picture perfect season, with moisture and healthy soils complemented by a touch of heat over summer. The Italianate style of this sangiovese with its typical savouriness (think dried herbs and spice) is complemented by freshness in the form of persistent cherries, the primary brightness of the wine a surprise given it is now ten years of age. Juicy tannins and a long finish make this a most enjoyable wine to enjoy now, especially after a quick decant.

CELLARING

Having been carefully cellared in climate control at Vinea Marson, the 2013 Sangiovese is perfect to drink now, or age for another 5-8 years.
