Another special drop from Mario's Museum Cellar, the 2016 Viognier exhibits freshness and complexity that belies its years. Sourced from the first six-rows of the Sopra vineyard at the foot of the Mount Camel Range, the viognier was barrel fermented in a range of French oak barriques (30% new) with occasional battonage. Achieving 95 points in the Halliday Wine Companion when first released, primary freshness of crisp citrus remains on the palate, alongside a creamy richness thanks to a portion of malolactic fermentation and elegant lift from oak.
